Smokin' Sword

On March 2, 2010, I went to the Turf Club in Concordville, Pennsylvania, to play Philly Park - now called Parx Racing - and Beulah Park. I was auditioning a new system. When Race 4 at Beulah came along, SMOKIN’ SWORD was the top choice of my new methodology. SMOKIN’ SWORD had a 30/1 Morning Line and was going off at 60/1. ALL THAT MONEY, the 4/5 favorite, was my second choice. Not sure if the new method would work or not, I hedged my bets, playing both horses to win and boxing them in the exacta. With eight horses in the race, ALL THAT MONEY took the lead right out of the gate and held sway well into the stretch. #4 SMOKIN’ SWORD was unhurried coming out of the gate, but kept in close contact with the pack, saving ground all the way. Watching on TV, SMOKIN’ SWORD blended into the pack and was tough to identify. Halfway down the stretch, SMOKIN’ SWORD split rivals and pulled up alongside ALL THAT MONEY. SMOKIN’ SWORD and ALL THAT MONEY dueled for several strides. SMOKIN’ SWORD won the duel and pulled away to win easily. ALL THAT MONEY held second. The new method worked.
